Secret Ingredient of a healthy relationship

Relationship – the word itself holds a lot of memories. Every relationship seems perfect and happier in the beginning. But with time, when the relationship grows, something goes wrong and we don’t know what and we all feel lost inside but never find out why. Just think of the time when we become friends with someone or committed in a relationship, or having new colleagues around us, think of the things we did at that time – the initial stages of relationship. We would be so understanding, caring and appreciate them for whatever they did even when we don’t know who they really are. But with time, when we actually understood them and know them for whom they are and when our relationship becomes closer, we just forget to appreciate them for the things they do and start complaining everything about them. And that is when the relationship becomes bitter and fights grow bigger.

How many times have we yelled at our mom for making our breakfast late? How many times have we shouted at our dad for not getting stuffs we asked for? How many times have we fought with our friends or partner for silly things and made it a big issue. But have we ever imagined how much effort our mom is putting on making our breakfast, how many things our dad has to sacrifice, to get the one thing that we asked for or how much effort our friend/partner is putting to hold our relationship. Why don’t we just appreciate the good things they do instead of complaining about the one thing they didn’t do? Why can’t we start accepting their faults and appreciating their presence instead of bragging about something that is going to cost our relationship?

Appreciation or compliment is a miracle that could cure someone’s mood in a minute. Imagine waiting at a bus stop, having a bad rough day, being tired and having a bad feeling about everything, and someone waiting there comes up to you just to say that your dress looks good and it suits you. You look beautiful in that outfit. Isn’t it a magical moment, that all of a sudden our mood changes, we’ll be feeling good and have a huge smile on our face forgetting how horrible our day was just few moments ago. So if a little compliment from a stranger could give us so much happiness, why can’t we give that happiness to our loved ones, just by appreciating the little things they do? Appreciation is a gift, it is not going to cost you anything, but instead it strengthens your relationship.

So the next time when your mom prepares your favourite food but makes it salty, appreciate her for the efforts she put in for you, instead of yelling for the extra salt she added. The next time when you asked something to your dad and he forget to get it, remember he is working too hard to put a smile on your face and appreciate him for the efforts he is putting. The next time when you see someone doing some good work, no matter how small it is like giving their seat to an old woman in the bus, helping an old lady cross the road, feeding food to street dogs, go to them and appreciate them for the good work they are doing. It encourages them to do more and give them a soulful feel. Don’t hesitate to spread positivity because that is what keeps us going!!

The worst kind of pain is that doing the best we could do and knowing that it is still not good enough. Never give that pain to your loved ones. So stop complaining and start complimenting and see how beautiful life could be!!
